Besides the high profile events of Centenary Year, 2007 saw the introduction of the Esher District Scope Trophy. The Scope Trophy is a series of competitions between the Explorer Units in the District. Points are awarded for each competition and the Unit with the most points at the end of the year wins the Trophy! The actual trophy is a large felling axe.

In 2007 there were six competitions - Cross Country, County Night Hike Challenge, Air Rifle Shooting, Ready Steady Cook, 5-a-Side Football, Indoor Games - a varied set as you can see.

Hinchley Wood came third in the Cross Country.

The County Night Hike was probably the highlight of the Scope Trophy. It's a tough 15-mile event held in early March with teams starting between 6:30pm and 9pm and taking 7-11 hours to complete. Out of the 33 teams who set out only 12 finished, Hinchley Wood coming 7th overall and being the 2nd fastest to finish in 7hrs 48mins. We came in second of the Esher District teams. Points were gained by completing the various incidents set up along the way, including First Aid, Morse Code Signalling and Pioneering.

Ready Steady Cook is based on the popular TV programme - each team is given a bag of food and has 45 minutes to produce the best dish!

The Games Competition includes quizzes, mind games and games such as darts, skittles, table tennis and pool.

1st Hinchley Wood won the Shooting, the Cooking and the Games and were runners-up in the Football.

The Trophy events were good fun and challenging and continued in the older age range the spirit of co-operation and friendly competition that are so much part of the Scout Troop programme.

The final Scope Trophy positions were announced as:

1st 	1stHinchley Wood
2nd	Chimaeras (Claygate)
3rd=	2nd Molesey & 1st Weston Green
5th	3rd Molesey
6th	Ajax Sea Scouts

Here we are celebrating our win at our Annual Dinner.

Now it all starts again for 2008!
